Michael Beale even worse than Rangers predecessor – ‘it’s not good to watch’, says expert
Frank McAvennie has claimed Michael Beale is not doing a better job than Giovanni van Bronckhorst did at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Beale is “saying all the right things” to the Gers fans but insisted they will be able to see through it.
Beale has now taken charge of 17 Scottish Premiership games this season after the 5-2 win over St Mirren on Saturday (15 April).
In those games he has won 15, drawn one and lost one.
Van Bronckhorst was at the helm for 15 Premiership games before being relieved of his duties at the end of 2022.
His Gers side won ten of those fixtures, three ended in a draw and they lost two of those matches.
But, the Dutchman guided the Light Blues to the Europa League final and finished the season just four points off Celtic with a Scottish Cup title under his belt.
Beale’s side are currently 12 points behind the league leaders and have already lost out on the League Cup to their Glasgow rivals.
Their only hope of silverware now rests on beating the Hoops in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the end of the month, a feat they have failed to achieve this season.
When asked if Beale is doing a better job than Van Bronckhorst did last season, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I do not think so.
“He has come in and is saying all the right things and talking a good game but the fans are not stupid.
“Van Bronckhorst won the cup and it was an impressive run they had in Europe.

“This Rangers team are not exactly playing well. They are winning games but it is not good to watch.
“I do not know why there is a dislike to Van Bronckhorst because of the run that he gave them. It must have been something within the hierarchy because as a manager he got them so closed to the promised land.“
In other news, Rangers have lost staggering £111m sum.
