Michael Beale facing Rangers sack after latest development – ‘it could be over,’ says pundit
New Rangers boss Michael Beale could be facing the sack already.
That’s according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Beale’s future at Ibrox.
The former Queens Park Rangers boss took up the job at the Glasgow club less than a month after reaffirming his commitment to the Championship club.
Beale had won just two games in eight when he quit QPR.
Beale has already spent time at Ibrox as assistant manager under Steven Gerrard but has now replaced Giovanni van Bronckhorst as manager until 2026.
As quoted by the Daily Record (4 December), the 42-year-old said that the Gers have “underdog status” and are in a “disappointing” position compared to where they were last season.
The Light Blues have already had their first win under the Englishman after beating Bayer Levekusen 3-0 in a friendly at Ibrox on Saturday (10 December).
Beale will face his first big test as Rangers boss against Hibernian on Thursday (15 December) when the Scottish Premiership resumes.
McAvennie insisted Ibrox chiefs won’t hesitate to get rid of the new boss.
“I think he was going to get pushed out of QPR anyway,” he told Football Insider.
“If he does not win on Thursday night, let’s see how much the fans love him. He cannot fall further behind.

“They have got three games against Celtic to play. They lose another game then it could be over.
“I do not care how long his contract is – if he is not good enough they will get rid of him.“
