Michael Beale lambasted by Glasgow pundit after Rangers dressing room latest – ‘he won’t encourage anyone’
Frank McAvennie has slammed Michael Beale’s decision to join Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker claimed that although Beale was a “damn good coach” he will struggle as a manager.
On 28 November, the Lights Blues confirmed the appointment of the 42-year-old just over a month after turning down the Wolves job and reaffirming his commitment to QPR.
According to the Daily Record (28 November), the former QPR boss said Beale’s first team talk has given the squad a massive boost.
The players are said to have been deeply impressed by the new boss as he set out a three-point plan during his first training session in charge of the Glasgow club.
But McAvennie isn’t buying into Beale’s vision.
“He would not give me a boost if it was a bar of chocolate,” he told Football Insider.
“I look at him and think my god. He is not going to encourage anyone.
“I think he is a damn good coach. He is clearly desperate to be a manager. He went to QPR and the first time they are in trouble he is out.

“He has one win from seven and he is out the door. That is when you become a good manager, when you learn how to deal with that. If he thought it was bad at QPR, just wait until he starts losing at Rangers.
“The expectations of this guy, he will know what pressure is.“
