Michael Carrick now odds-on favourite for permanent Man United job amid managerial latest
Michael Carrick’s chances of becoming Manchester United’s next permanent manager appear to be growing by the day.
The 44-year-old has continually seen his odds slashed to be in charge of the Red Devils for the first game of next season, and he is now the odds-on favourite to take the job permanently.
Carrick is now priced at odds of 5/6 by one major bookmaker to be appointed on a full-time basis, as he continues to lead the race from the likes of Oliver Glasner, Gareth Southgate and Julian Nagelsmann.
The interim boss has led the team on a five-game unbeaten run in the Premier League at the start of his tenure, and that has catapulted them into a strong position to go on and secure a Champions League spot.

Man United may face competition for Michael Carrick appointment
Football Insider recently revealed that the United hierarchy are still keen to wait until the end of the season before making their next appointment, as they are keen to assess all of their options.
The Red Devils seemingly want to avoid making a knee-jerk reaction to Carrick’s promising start, despite several positive signs emerging on the pitch already.
However, by biding their time over their next move, United potentially risk seeing competition grow for Carrick’s signature.
He is already being tipped as an outside candidate to take the reins at Tottenham, while the likes of Crystal Palace and Fulham have also shown an interest in the former Middlesbrough boss.

The former midfielder already appears to have the players firmly on his side at Old Trafford, and the latest shift in the betting markets suggest that his work clearly isn’t going unnoticed.
Old Trafford chiefs need to learn from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer evidence
United fans have desired a manager who can build a genuine connection with the club for several seasons now, and Carrick is certainly capable of that, having played in front of them for over 10 years during his playing career.
The Premier League giants have ultimately been unsuccessful with the majority of their appointments since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was arguably the most successful, despite being far from the biggest name to take charge in the last decade.
The Norwegian secured the club’s joint best finish of the post-Ferguson era when he led his side to second in 2020-21, and for a prolonged period, it was a perfect marriage between him and the fans.
United’s hierarchy have done plenty to frustrate the supporters with their actions in recent years, but the appointment of Carrick on a full-time basis would be a smart decision in that respect.
Solskjaer quietly enjoyed plenty of success during his stint at the helm, and a move for Carrick could potentially spark a similar upturn in the club’s fortunes.
