Michael Olise to Liverpool: Big release clause update emerges from Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich star Michael Olise has emerged as a major transfer target for Liverpool.
The former Crystal Palace winger has been away from the Premier League since he first made the switch to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2024, and he has since gone from strength to strength in Bavaria.
Manchester City are understood to be keen on Olise, but any pursuit from them in the coming months will depend on how Oscar Bobb progresses within Pep Guardiola’s group.
Nevertheless, there appears to be no shortage of suitors who are prepared to facilitate a return to England for the France international, and it is Arne Slot and Liverpool who are the latest to eye a deal.

Michael Olise is a ‘dream target’ for Liverpool as Bayern Munich stance clear
Football Insider revealed back in September that Mohamed Salah is expected to leave Liverpool before the end of his current contract in the summer of 2027.
That has seemingly made a winger a clear priority for the Merseysiders in the upcoming transfer windows, and links between them and Olise have grown stronger as a result in recent weeks.
Liverpool are extremely keen on the 23-year-old, and are understood to view him as a “dream target” for the future, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via his X account.
However, it is also thought that there are no plans for the Reds to make a concrete offer for him at the moment, given that the player himself has little desire to leave Bayern.
The German giants have no release clause in Olise’s contract, and his club are not keen to engage in talks over a potential sale.
As a result, the Reds are believed to be “focused” on landing Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo instead.
FSG unlikely to committ to major signing before Arne Slot’s future is settled
Football Insider understands that Slot still has the backing of the Liverpool board, despite pressure seemingly mounting on him after a series of poor results of late.
However, with the level of scrutiny that is currently surrounding the Dutchman, it may only take another couple of poor results for his position at Anfield to become very precarious.
With that in mind, it seems unlikely that FSG would commit to signing a big-money target while there are potential doubts as to who will be leading the team into 2026.
It is surely too much of a risk for them to splash the cash on a statement signing to try and turn their fortunes around, just for Slot to then be dismissed, and for the player to potentially fall out of favour with the new regime.
If the boss can turn the team’s fortunes around in the coming weeks, then it would be no surprise to see the Reds spend big in January, but if the uncertainty remains, it will surely be a much more cautious approach in the market.
