Michael Owen predicts Tottenham v Middlesbrough
By Dominic Toner
Michael Owen has predicted that Tottenham will overcome Middlesbrough in their Premier League meeting on Saturday.
Spurs host Boro at White Hart Lane and will be looking to respond to the disappointing goalless draw away to relegation-threatened Sunderland in mid-week.
However, the north London club have won their last six league games at White Hart Lane and are formidable opponents on their home surface.
Owen believes that Spurs’ home form will play a huge role and help them obtain the three points.
“Spurs were disappointed to draw a blank at the Stadium of Light earlier in the week but they have won their last six home games at the Lane and I can’t see Boro taking anything from the fixture,” Owen wrote in his BetVictor column.
Spurs are currently second-placed in the Premier League table and are nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea, but will be desperate to secure a top four position first of all.
They are still regarded as one of the main contenders for the title and will need to beat Boro to keep their bid alive.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are unbeaten in their last 10 games across all competitions and will be strong favourites to secure a victory on Saturday.
A Heung-Min Son brace earned Spurs a narrow 2-1 victory over Boro in the previous meeting this season.
In other Tottenham news, Tim Sherwood claims that the club’s academy ace is an acquired taste.
