Michael Owen makes Tottenham 2017-18 prediction, fans will be angered

By Harvey Byrne

Michael Owen has predicted Tottenham to fall out of the top four in the Premier League next season due to the Wembley affect, loss of Kyle Walker and no signings.

The north London club impressed once again in the last campaign as they finished as the runners-up to champions Chelsea with just seven points between the two teams.

Many felt that a number of Spurs stars would be poached by club’s with more money to offer this summer.

However, only Walker has left to date in a mega-money deal to Manchester City thought to be worth an initial £45million.

But, Owen expects the Walker loss to hit Tottenham hard and has explained that the England international’s departure is one of the reasons why he believes Spurs won’t finish in a Champions League spot at the end of the 2017-18 season.

“Tottenham Hotspur are a side I really rate,” started Owen, as quoted by the official Premier League website.

“I have been impressed with Mauricio Pochettino since his move into the Premier League and he has assembled a strong squad, but they have lost a world-class full-back in Kyle Walker and not added. Their home form was near perfect last season and the move to Wembley will affect that.”

Owen has predicted each of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United to finish in the top four next season, meaning Tottenham are the only side he believes will drop out.

The former England international has also named both Everton and Arsenal alongside Tottenham as teams to “miss out”, but neither finished in the top four spots in the last campaign.

Tottenham fans will of course be angered to see their club as the one pundits are predicting to fall out of the top four.

However, Spurs themselves will keen to enter their new ground with Champions League football and they will be hoping the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli can prove pundits like Owen wrong once again.
