‘Micky van de Ven wants to quit Tottenham and join Real Madrid’

Micky van de Ven wants to leave Tottenham this summer if Real Madrid make an offer, according to the club’s former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that Madrid’s scouts have been keeping tabs on his progress this season.

This comes after the 23-year-old’s agent hinted at a move away from Tottenham in the near future and has been touting his services.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Marca, his agent confessed: “Micky also has the level to one day play for a big club like Real Madrid. Besides, Madrid needs a player with his talents at the back.”

That is despite a difficult season at Tottenham, where he has missed large spells through injury while his side have dropped as low as 15th in the table.

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed in February that Liverpool are “very keen” on Van de Ven and want to bring him in alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Real Madrid want Van de Ven deal after Tottenham scouting mission

Brown previously told Football Insider that Real Madrid want to sign a new centre-back this summer amid links to William Saliba, Virgil van Dijk and Cristian Romero.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained the Spanish giants’ scouts have been looking in the Premier League.

His agent is really pushing for a move to Real Madrid,” he told Football Insider.

“That’s the biggest problem in football at the moment, for me, because what does that agent know about football to be telling Real Madrid what they need?

“As it happens, I think Van de Ven would be a good fit for them, but that’s not for his agent to decide.

“Real Madrid want a centre-back and they’ve been looking at options.

“A lot of those options are in the Premier League, and we spoke before about Romero.

“They’ve had scouts at Tottenham games having a look, so I don’t doubt Van de Ven is on their radar.

“If they come calling, he will want to go, because it’s always difficult for players to turn down a move to Real Madrid, especially after a difficult season like he’s had.

“I’m not quite convinced he’ll be their first choice given his injury issues, but it’s a ‘watch this space’ situation at the moment.”

Dejan Kulusevski could quit amid AC Milan and Napoli interest

Van de Ven isn’t the only Tottenham player linked with a move away from north London after a disappointing Premier League season so far.

Brown told Football Insider on 8 April that Dejan Kulusevski is interested in leaving Tottenham amid interest from Napoli and AC Milan.

Tottenham, however, are reluctant to let their star player leave this summer and view him as a crucial part of their plans for the future.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham will demand a “huge” fee for Kulusevski as a number of top clubs are keeping an eye on his situation.
