Mikel Arteta caught lying in Arsenal press conference, image proves he’s avoiding the truth

Mikel Arteta has been left with egg on his face after an answer that he gave during his post-match press conference on Wednesday night.

Arsenal won 3-2 away at Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, leaving them in a commanding position going into the second leg at the Emirates Stadium on 3 February.

Viktor Gyokeres was excellent for Arsenal throughout their midweek victory, and he netted his team’s second goal just after half-time to help them on their way to a valuable win at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners revert their attention back towards their push for the Premier League title this weekend, but Arteta has certainly left eyebrows raised with one of his post-match comments on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta lies about Arsenal throw-in coach

Arsenal fans raved about Ben White on social media for his performance in the victory over Chelsea, and Arteta will undoubtedly be pleased with the display from his team.

The Everton-linked defender put his team ahead in just the seventh minute of the action, as he headed home from a corner, in what was yet another set-piece goal for the North Londoners.

Arteta’s men have become synonymous with their ability to make the most of their restarts, and they have recently added a new weapon to their set-piece arsenal in recent days.

The boss was quizzed about the arrival of a new throw-in coach in his press conference after the victory at Chelsea, with journalist Connor Humm suggesting via his X account that the Spanish chief outlined that he “Didn’t know anything about that.”

However, Arteta has now been caught lying about the addition to the coaching staff, as throw-in expert Thomas Gronnemark proved his arrival by sharing a photo of himself at Arsenal’s training ground to his X account on Tuesday.

While Arteta’s lie is certainly not a significant one within the context of football management, it is a somewhat surprising decision for him to avoid being honest about the situation, especially given that he and his team have seemingly embraced the remarks about their set-piece prowess in the past.

Who is Thomas Gronnemark?

Gronnemark recently revealed that he is working with Arsenal, but his background within football is relatively bizarre.

The 50-year-old Dane is a former athlete, and he has worked with several football clubs during his time as a coach.

Gronnemark previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest throw-in, and he has made valuable contributions when imparting his wisdom to several different teams.

He has previously worked with the likes of Viborg and Midtjylland in his homeland, while he has recently taken in spells with both Brentford and Liverpool in the Premier League.

Gronnemark’s arrival at Arsenal will undoubtedly provide concern for the rest of the league.

They are already imperious when it comes to the quality of their set-pieces, and the new coach’s expertise could be set to take their restarts to an entirely new level.
