Mikey Johnston and two other Celtic stars expected to exit after confirmed news – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has insisted Mikey Johnston, Albian Ajeti and Christopher Jullien should leave Celtic this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Hoops striker said that Ange Postecoglou needs to offload players who won’t get game time next season.
Celtic confirmed (19 July) the double signing of Moritz Jenz, 23, and Aaron Mooy, 31.
Jenz joins the club on a loan deal for next season that includes an option to buy.
Mooy put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Scottish champions.
When asked if the latest signings could facilitate Parkhead exits, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Mikey Johnston has been there for a long time.
“When you look at midfield, he’s not going to get a game. If everyone is fit, or even some of them are fit, only so many can play in the midfield.
“And he’s better than a utility player, he’s better than getting 20 minutes here and there, he’s better than that. I would like to see him going away and being a star for another team. I think it would do him the world of good to be honest.
“Ajeti, he’s got to go. He’s not one of Ange’s players. I’m sure he would’ve scored goals. But Ange’s football is all about movement and Ajeti doesn’t do that. He won’t create chances because all he wants is to score goals, which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just not for Ange.

“Jullien needs to be out the door because he’s obviously not in the manager’s plans. The manager can’t keep both Jullien and [Stephen] Welsh.
“I think these boys should go away and taste life outside of Celtic. Some of them have been there for a while.“
