Mills: Forshaw tipped to join Premier League side on loan after big Leeds development
Danny Mills has suggested Adam Forshaw could leave Leeds United and join another Premier League side on loan next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Whites defender delivered his verdict after the midfielder completed 84 minutes of an under-23s game against Aston Villa on Friday night.
It was Leeds fans’ first glimpse of Forshaw in over 18 months after he has struggled with various setbacks after a hip injury.
He featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against York City while the senior side pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory over Manchester City last weekend.
But Friday’s game was the first time he was seen in front of the cameras as Leeds’ Under-23s secured the Premier League 2 Division 2 title with a 2-1 victory over Villa.
Asked whether the 29-year-old’s return will be like a new signing for Bielsa, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Unless Bielsa has got something else in mind.
“If that’s the case they might let him go out on loan for a few games just to get some game time.
“He’s not proven himself in the Premier League yet and that’s something he’s got to do.
“It’s Bielsa’s first season in the Premier League as well. I know he’s seen it from afar and he obviously did very well in the Championship.
“He understands it a bit more and has an understanding of what’s required from those positions.
“He might be thinking ‘Yes this lad is OK, he’s great, he’s perfect, he slots in.’ Or actually ‘We might need something else. I’m not sure about him.’
“He might have to go out on loan to go away and come back in.”
In other news, Leeds United have been tipped for more spending after a late-night Andrea Radrizzani tweet.
