Mills issues ‘massive’ claim on Rangers ‘stopping Celtic’ after significant development
Lifting the Scottish Premiership will be the “massive priority” for Rangers despite their Europa League advancement, according to Danny Mills.
The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Ibrox club will “want to stop Celtic more than anything else”.
As confirmed on Friday (25 February), Rangers will face Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League Round of 16 after coming through a two-legged playoff against German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Meanwhile, the Ibrox club trail Old Firm rivals Celtic by three points atop the Scottish Premiership after winning just two of their last five league games.
Mills insisted going all the way in the Europa League will prove a “very difficult” task.
He suggested the Gers must be “realistic” about their chances.
“I still think they’ll want to win the league,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“That has to be a massive priority for them, they’ll want to stop Celtic more than anything else.
“Realistically, to go to the final and win it will be very difficult indeed when you consider some of the teams that are left in the competition.
“Even if they get through against Red Star, it’ll be a very tough task.
“The priority has to be the league, and the European campaign can be that added bonus – if you like.”

Rangers’ last significant European campaign came during the 2007-08 season when they were beaten in the final against Zenit Saint Petersburg.
The Gers were beaten in the Round of 16 by Slavia Prague last season.
