Mills: Leeds backed to seal 'huge' Perraud signing after latest development

Danny Mills has backed Leeds United transfer target Romain Perraud to “fit in” at Elland Road.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England full-back suggested the 23-year-old could be sold for a “huge fee” in the future if he improves under Marcelo Bielsa.

Football Insider understands the Yorkshire giants have made the Stade Brest defender their top left-back target ahead of the summer window.

Leeds expect to seal a deal for Perraud when the transfer window opens after holding “encouraging talks”.

Ezgjan Alioski spent the majority of the season as the club’s first-choice left-back but his contract is set to expire next month.

The club confirmed the North Macedonia international has been offered a new deal but he is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.

Asked whether Perraud would be a good addition for Leeds, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “A young player who’s energetic with quality. He’ll fit in.

“And again, he’ll have a sell-on value at some point. You can improve them and if they move on then brilliant but if they stay it’s just as good. It shouldn’t make a huge difference.

“Everybody’s looking at younger players. If they do really well and you have to sell them on there’s a huge fee involved.”

Perraud provided seven assists and scored three goals in 36 Ligue 1 games this season as Brest secured a 17th-place finish.

His performances earned him a place in France Football‘s Ligue 1 team of the season alongside Kylian Mbappe and Memphis Depay.
