Mills: Leeds tipped to sell Costa as speed machine keen on Elland Road move

Danny Mills has tipped Leeds United to sell Helder Costa if they complete a deal for Noa Lang.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England full-back insisted Marcelo Bielsa is right to try and freshen up his squad ahead of a second season back in the Premier League.

Football Insider learned on 24 June Lang is interested in swapping Club Brugge for Elland Road this summer.

It comes after this site revealed in May Leeds had made the 21-year-old a target after a fantastic season in Belgium.

The super-quick forward, who operates mainly on the wing, scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists in 38 games across all competitions.

He was on a season-long loan from Ajax that will become permanent in July for £6million but that does not mean he is guaranteed to stay with Club Brugge next summer.

“It’s not the most important position for Leeds to address and get sorted,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“It might just mean that they believe he’s better than Helder Costa and he may be moving on.

“It’s just freshening it up and rotating a few players. As hard as it is sometimes, that’s what you’ve got to do. You’ve got to make tough decisions as a manager. you have to move people on, freshen the squad up and bring in players with more quality.

“If that’s the case, that looks like what they’re trying to do.”

Costa, 27, played 22 times in the Premier League last term but failed to nail down a regular starting berth.

Raphinha and Jack Harrison are firmly established as Marcelo Bielsa’s preferred wingers.
