Mills tells Celtic ‘you’re £40m short’ after major transfer blow
Celtic will fail to attract top players in January after they were dumped out of the Europa League by Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England full-back suggested it is not just the financial impact of the loss that will hurt Celtic in the transfer market.
Football finance guru Kieran Maguire told Football Insider today (November 26) the Hoops have lost out on £38million as a result of their premature exit from the Europa League.

That includes prize money, gate receipts and broadcast income.
Ange Postecoglou admitted to Celtic TV after the game that his side were not at the level to compete with Leverkusen who are currently fourth in the Bundesliga.
They were leading 2-1 with less than 10 minutes to go but late goals from Robert Andrich and Moussa Diaby saw Leverkusen come away with all three points.
Asked whether the financial impact will make Celtic rethink any transfer plans, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.
“It’s also not attractive to players.
“European football is European football. I know it’s not the Champions League but it still attracts a certain quality of player.
“You’re £30million, £40milllion short of where you want to be so it has to have an effect.”

Celtic have now failed to make it through to the Europa League knockout stages for the second consecutive season.
They will now face a two-legged play-off to determine whether they will compete in the Europa Conference League knockout stages.
In other news, an Aberdeen player should be banned as controversial footage goes viral pre-Celtic.
