Danny Mills has urged “frightening” Swansea City talent Daniel James to snub a summer move to Manchester United.
As reported by Football Insider, the Premier League giants are in advanced talks to land the in-demand winger in a £15million transfer ahead of the likes of Everton, Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Leeds United.
Ex-England defender Mills is urged James to make a late U-turn and head to a club where he would get more game time and better advance his burgeoning career.
“I’m not sure it’s the right move for James, going to Man United with all the turmoil they’re in,” Mills said. “Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez are all still there, so he would be competing for a starting place with them.
“There is disharmony and discord as well. For a younger player like James, he needs to go and learn at a different club. He’s a frightening talent and has made real progress in recent months but there would be better clubs for him to go than being at a big club like United, where he would be left out and not improve.”
Swansea are set to cash in on James this summer as he is about to enter the final year of a contract that expires in the summer of 2020.
Talks over an extension have broken down and the 21-year-old’s immense progress in recent months has had scouts from the elite clubs beating a path to the Welsh club’s door.
James scored his first international goal for Wales in March and has been a regular supplier of goals and assists for the financially-stricken Championship club.
In other Man United news, it can be REVEALED that Ed Woodward is working on a deal to beat Manchester City to the signing of a brilliant central midfielder.
