Milos Kerkez reacts as Antoine Semenyo deal agreed

Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez has reacted to an announcement concerning Antoine Semenyo’s future at Bournemouth.

The winger has been the subject of heavy transfer interest this summer, after an impressive 2024/25 campaign for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Last season, the 25-year-old started all but two Premier League games for the Cherries, scoring 11 goals and picking up six assists.

Both Newcastle and Tottenham have had interest in Semenyo, as they look to add attacking quality to their ranks ahead of their upcoming Champions League campaigns.

Despite a number of potential suitors for their Ghanaian star, Bournemouth remained staunch on their £70million price tag for Semenyo.

Now, the Cherries have tied the former Bristol City man down to a brand-new five-year deal on the south coast.

Announcing the new contract on their official Instagram account, Bournemouth shared a photo of Semenyo with a huge “2030” behind him, adding the caption: “We’re delighted that Antoine Semenyo has signed a new contract.”

Kerkez, who recently joined Liverpool from the Cherries, liked the post to show appreciation for his former teammate.

Football Insider Verdict

With Bournemouth already allowing Kerkez to depart this summer, as well as seeing Dean Huijsen joining Real Madrid, many would’ve thought that a mass exodus was in progress.

However by tying Semenyo down to a new deal, the Cherries have shown their backbone and proved they won’t just stand by and watch their squad get ripped apart.

The Ghana international quickly developed into one of Iraola’s most important players last season, with his direct and powerful attacking qualities often conjuring up goals out of nothing.

Over the course of the campaign, only once was Semenyo not selected in the starting lineup, for Bournemouth’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal.

The attacker came off the bench to grab an assist that day, and the other occasion he didn’t start was due to a suspension for accumulating five yellow cards.

Cherries fans will be expecting the 25-year-old to kick on again next season, as the south coast side hope for another fruitful Premier League campaign.
