‘Mohamed Salah contract clue emerges as Liverpool star to skip training camp’

Liverpool fans may have got a key hint over the future of Mo Salah at Anfield after an update beyond the end of the season.

It has been a remarkable season for the Egyptian, who has been key for the Reds as they march towards the Premier League title in Arne Slot‘s first season in charge.

That though, has only heightened the pressure on the club to secure the future of the 32-year-old given his contract is of course due to expire at the end of this season.

There has been plenty of speculation about whether the likes of Salah and Virgil van Dijk will sign new contracts with Liverpool, or leave the club on a free in the summer.

Now a fresh update on Salah has revealed some of the attacker’s plans for the close-season, which could be viewed as a hint over where he expects to be for the 2025/26 campaign.

Mo Salah to miss Egypt camp

It is understood that Liverpool are pushing hard to agree a new contract with Salah, but are yet to reach a breakthrough in negotiations.

A report from the Daily Mail has now stated that the 32-year-old is planning to miss an international camp in June.

Salah’s Egyptian national team are set to link up at the end of the season, but the attacking star is apparently not due to be involved.

The Liverpool talisman will instead focus on resting his body after the long campaign for club and country.

That comes after Salah missed the Olympics last summer, which is believed to be part of the reason for his success during the current campaign as it has allowed him to maintain fitness levels.

In that respect, this could be seen as a big clue as to just what the player himself is thinking when it comes to his future.

Liverpool given contract hope by international update

With a break from international football at the end of last season, where he skipped the Olympics, seemingly helping during the current campaign Salah is presumably hoping for a repeat of that by missing this camp.

As a result, there may be reasons for those at Anfield to be confident that the attacker is planning to extend his stay at the club.

Amid the success they look set to enjoy in the Premier League this season, they will surely be looking to go one better next time round, for Liverpool to offset their disappointment in the cup competitions.

If they are to do that, then it will be another long and difficult campaign for all involved with the club, with the physical demands they will have to meet.

That will particularly be the case for a player such as Salah who is at the latter stages of his career, and would need to be a fresh as possible for another season competing at the very top level of the game, in the Premier League and Champions League, rather than potentially the Saudi Pro League or elsewhere.

With that in mind, the fact he is intending to miss a camp with Egypt, which also ought to mean a lot to him, in order to stay as fit as possible could suggest he is expecting to be part of such a campaign.

That in turn, may mean there is now an extra reason for the Reds to have some confidence that the 32-year-old will extend his stay with the club.

Liverpool already look set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, and as they aim to avoid a repeat with other assets such as Salah, this could well be seen as a welcome update.
