Mohamed Salah ‘could be the one to go’ as Liverpool linked with unexpected signing – expert
Frank McAvennie has told Liverpool to stay away from signing Christian Pulisic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted the Reds are spoilt for choice in forward areas and Pulisic would only join if someone leaves.
According to the Mail Online (27 November), the Merseysiders are interested in the 24-year-old but Jude Bellingham is still their main target.
The winger is said to have caught the eye of potential suitors with his performances in the World Cup and the likes of Man United, Newcastle United and Arsenal all keeping tabs on his situation.
The American’s Chelsea contract expires in 2024 after joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.
When asked if Pulisic would make it into the starting XI at Liverpool, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I do not know.
“He is a good player but Liverpool have [Luis] Diaz and [Darwin] Nunez, they have still got [Mohamed] Salah and [Roberto] Firmino. There is [Diogo] Jota when he comes back.
“I just think there is too many. I do not know where he would play. I think he has got pace to burn but so do Diaz and these kind of players.
“So I do not see where he would play unless someone is leaving. The only one you would think would go would be Salah but he does not want to leave. I just can’t see anyone else.“

Pulisic has made 19 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions this season.
In those outings he has scored once and provided two assists.
