Mohamed Salah is happy earning ‘very big money’ at Liverpool, this is why he could U-turn on exit plan
Mohamed Salah will happily see out his contract at Liverpool on “very big money” if a summer move fails to materialise.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Saudi Arabia remains the only option for the Egypt international if he decides to leave Anfield.
Salah agreed a new contract with Liverpool in April 2025, extending his stay on Merseyside to June 2027.
However, the 33-year-old has been linked with an exit in recent months after criticising Anfield chiefs publicly towards the end of last year.
Salah is expected to make the move to the Saudi Pro League if he is to leave Arne Slot’s side, but his future remains up in the air at this moment in time.

Who could sign Mohamed Salah if he leaves Liverpool?
Salah is believed to be the joint-highest earner at Anfield alongside Virgil van Dijk, with the duo raking in £400,000 a week.
The winger also banks significant bonuses through image rights and sponsorship deals due to his status in world football.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed Salah’s options if he were to push for a move away from Liverpool this summer.
“I think the reality is only Saudi Arabia could even come close to competing,” said Borson.
“So, does Saudi Arabia want to invest that amount money? Are they in a position to have things changed in Saudi Arabia? We just don’t know at the moment.

“If not, he’ll see his contract out very happily on very big money. I just don’t see any other real route out of Liverpool given his earnings.”
Why Liverpool’s transfer stance is limiting Salah’s exit options
Borson insisted there are very few options available for Salah other than securing a move to Saudi due to his significant wages.
“I just don’t think that Liverpool would be prepared to say subsidise 50 per cent,” said Borson.
“I just don’t see that. Therefore, even a free transfer, it is likely to be prohibitive for anybody.

“I think the chances are it’s Saudi Arabia, or he stays and finishes his contracts at Liverpool.”
Salah’s form has dipped for Liverpool this season, having registered seven goals and eight assists in 28 appearances.
