Mohamed Salah: Liverpool fans may be sweating it out for months after latest update – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Liverpool may have to wait until the summer for Mohamed Salah to sign a new contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Liverpool fans should not worry as negotiations drag even though they may be sweating for many more months over the final outcome.
A Reds source told Football Insider on Saturday (5 February) they are confident months of discussions can be concluded when Salah returns from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Egypt captain was pictured back in Liverpool training yesterday (8 February) after his side’s defeat to Senegal in the AFCON final at the weekend.
Football Insider reported last year (25 October) Salah wants wages of £500,000-a-week if he is to commit his future to the club.
His current deal is set to expire at the end of next season.
“Maybe the club look at it and think ‘We know Salah wants to stay, it’s up to us to find a solution’,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Sometimes there’s not a rush, they know a player loves the club and wants to stay. They can wait and make things work and work out how they can make the deal work.
“I don’t think there are any worries about Salah leaving, even though fans may be sweating for a few months. Even with the arrival of Luis Diaz, it doesn’t change anything.

“Salah is Liverpool. Without Salah in that team, Liverpool are a lot, lot weaker.
“I’m sure they will get that contract sorted, definitely. It might be the end of the season that it is sorted, there’s no real rush for the player or the club.”
