Mohamed Salah: Liverpool star tipped to make rivals ‘suffer’ and have ‘everybody drooling’ after behind-the-scenes reveal

Alex McLeish has tipped Mo Salah to make opposition defences “suffer” for Liverpool after Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations final defeat.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager insisted it was “absolutely brilliant” of the 29-year-old to return to Merseyside just days after suffering international heartbreak.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday (9 February), Jurgen Klopp revealed Salah was “massively” disappointed after Egypt lost to Senegal on Sunday (6 February).

The Liverpool boss admitted the winger “still had the final on his mind” in training on Tuesday.

The Reds face Leicester City tonight (10 February) before taking on Burnley on Sunday.

McLeish suggested Salah could use the disappointment as fuel for his Liverpool performances.

Reacting to Salah’s return to training, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Absolutely brilliant. What a man. He’s very well respected in the game.

“Defenders respect him too well because he scores goals against them.

“A great player. The one thing is, when you lose a football match, you don’t want to wait a month before you play again. You want to play the next week.

“He’ll think: ‘I want to get it all out of my head. I’m going to make the opposition suffer.’

“That’s why the likes of Mo Salah are the best players on the planet.

“I wouldn’t think the African Cup has taken any great energy, mentally and physically. I believe he’ll want to come back to the status that has everybody drooling over him.

“He’ll come back wanting to plunder the Premier League.”
