Mohamed Salah: Pundit slams Ramy Abbas over latest twist in Liverpool contract drama

Alan Hutton has slammed Mohamed Salah’s agent for stoking the fires of the contract drama at Liverpool.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Ramy Abbas Issa should shut up and “all the talking” over the 29-year-old’s future should take place behind closed doors.

As quoted by ESPN on Friday (11 March), Jurgen Klopp insisted Liverpool “cannot do much more” in negotiations over a new deal for Salah.

Shortly after Klopp’s press conference, Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas Issa, took to Twitter to post seven laughing emojis.

Hutton blasted the agent’s “petty” response and insisted he was causing more confusion and uncertainty over the winger’s future at Anfield.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “They were interesting comments from Klopp. Then right after that Salah’s agent then posts laughing faces (on Twitter).

“What’s going on here? Is there something in the background that we don’t know?

“Personally, I think it’s just petty. I don’t think he even has to say anything. All the talking should be behind closed doors, between the club, the player and the agent.

“That’s how it should stay and that’s when you can come to a proper agreement.

“When you’re putting things out on social media and little snippets it starts to worry everybody involved. You’re thinking: ‘What’s going on here?’, especially the fans.

“Can you imagine how they feel at the moment? What’s actually going on here. We’re hearing one thing from the manager, we’re getting a totally different sign from the agent. Where do we stand here?

“If it was me, and it was my agent, I’d be telling him to just be quiet. Let’s keep it in house, let’s sort this out and move forward as quickly as possible so I can concentrate on my football.”
