Mohamed Salah: Pundit suggests ulterior motive behind Liverpool return as pictures emerge

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah after his immediate return to training following the African Cup of Nations.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suspects the 29-year-old is desperate to play against Leicester City on Thursday night because he wants to win the Golden Boot.

Salah played the full 120 minutes of the AFCON final on Sunday, as Egypt lost to Senegal on penalties.

As pictured by club media (8 February), the wide-forward returned to Kirkby on Wednesday ahead of the visit of Leicester City.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com (8 February), Jurgen Klopp revealed Salah has told him he “is ready” for Thursday’s Premier League clash.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Salah’s return, Campbell said: “Listen, Salah has missed enough games in his head.

“He wants to win the Golden Boot, let’s be honest. He wants that Golden Boot badly.

“At the end of the day, he is paid to play and wants to play so I wouldn’t be surprised if Klopp starts him.

“It’s a great show of professionalism from him. You expect nothing less than that from Mohamed Salah. If there’s a game, he will want to play in it.

“It is brilliant for Liverpool that they have got a top man like that in their squad. It’s really refreshing to see a player with attitude.”
