Mohamed Salah set for new Liverpool role after Jurgen Klopp reveal – pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah may start more centrally in future games.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said manager Jurgen Klopp may have “stumbled across something” in the 7-1 win over Rangers.

Salah scored the fastest hat-trick in Champions League history at Ibrox on Wednesday (12 October).

The Egypt international replaced Darwin Nunez in the second half of the clash and played as a central striker.

Speaking to club media (13 October), Klopp he has “no doubt” about the winger’s ability to play as a centre-forward.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Salah’s positioning moving forward, Robinson said: “All of his best work has been on the right side for Liverpool.

“That is always where he has played.

“Has Jurgen Klopp stumbled across something by bringing on Salah in a different position against Rangers? This could be a position that works for him.

“Salah is capable of playing anywhere across the front three. He came off the bench with a point to prove the other night.

Liverpool

“Salah is a world-class player and 12 months ago he was the best player in the world. You do not become a bad player overnight.

“Liverpool are struggling to find any form. Too many top players are underperforming. The win against Rangers could be the catalyst for them to kickstart their season.”

In other news, a medical expert has claimed Liverpool may be without Luis Diaz for longer than first feared.
