‘Mohammed Kudus to cost £100m as Tottenham complete star signing’

Tottenham are set to spend more than £100million in total on new signing Mohammed Kudus after the winger completed his move from West Ham.

Following a slow start to their summer business that was largely undermined by the uncertainty of Ange Postecoglou’s future, Spurs are finally making use of the transfer window.

Thomas Frank has arrived as Tottenham boss, and Daniel Levy is wasting little time equipping the Dane with the tools he needs.

Mathys Tel has arrived from Bayern Munich after Spurs negotiated a lower fee than the one that existed in the loan deal between the two sides, and Kota Takai has been signed from the J. League.

And with Son Heung-min’s future uncertain and Dejan Kulusevski mired with injuries, Tottenham are focusing on bolstering their attacking options.

Kudus has arrived from West Ham for £55million [BBC Sport], but according to The Athletic, the North London club will spend far more than that on the Ghanaian winger.

Mohammed Kudus to cost Tottenham more than £100m

Despite enduring a difficult season under Julen Lopetegui, then Graham Potter last season, the former Ajaz winger was still a highly-prized asset.

Pete O’Rourke exclusively told Football Insider back in June that Newcastle had made Kudus a “key target” after missing out on Bryan Mbeumo, but Spurs won the race to sign the talented winger.

As reported, the ex-Hammer will initially cost Tottenham an estimated £62.7m, including the fee paid to West Ham and “estimated costs”.

However, that figure does not count the 24-year-old’s weekly wages. The cost of not only signing the winger, but also paying him over the full term of his contract will almost certainly set Spurs back over £100m.

Tottenham shelling out after poor 2024/25 campaign

Football Insider Verdict

Despite being famed for his frugality, Levy has shown a willingness to spend this summer.

Having dropped over £100m to sign Kudus, Tottenham also bid £60m for Morgan Gibbs-White, much to Nottingham Forest’s annoyance.

Whether that deal gets over the line remains to be seen, but Spurs’ long-standing chairman is clearly keen to avoid a repeat of last season.

One of the motivating factors for bringing Frank to North London was his strong showings in the Premier League during his time at Brentford.

Despite winning the Europa League last season, another 17th-placed finish, or something similar, would be catastrophic for Tottenham and is clearly something Levy wants to avoid.
