Moises Caicedo breaks silence on VAR controversy in Chelsea win over Tottenham
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has taken to social media to joke about a key VAR intervention during his side’s win over Tottenham.
The Blues claimed a 1-0 win over their London rivals on Thursday night (3 April), moving them a step closer to securing a Champions League place.
Enzo Fernandez headed in a Cole Palmer cross for the only goal of the game shortly after half time to earn his side all three points.
However, there were plenty of other controversies throughout the course of the game to keep referee Craig Pawson and VAR Jarred Gillett busy.

Moises Caicedo sees stunning volley ruled out
Both Chelsea and Tottenham face being charged by the FA after a melee between the two sets of players just before half time in this game.
Meanwhile, after Fernandez had put the hosts in front, Caicedo thought he had doubled their lead when he struck an excellent volley into the back of the Spurs net after a free kick was only half cleared.
But after a long check by VAR, that goal was eventually ruled out for an offside when the set piece was originally taken, despite the angles involved making Trevoh Chalobah’s apparent offside look inconclusive.
Caicedo was involved when Tottenham thought they had scored an equaliser, only for another long check on VAR to eventually rule the goal out for a foul on the Chelsea midfielder by Pape Sarr.

Now, the Ecuador international has laughed off the disappointment of having his goal ruled with a new post online.
Taking to his Instagram story, Caicedo uploaded a picture of himself celebrating his goal with teammates Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto and Jadon Sancho.
He then tagged the Chelsea quartet, before adding the caption “It was nice while it lasted”, along with both a laughing and crying emoji.

Chelsea thrilled with midfielder despite disallowed goal
Football Insider Verdict
There will be plenty of frustration about the fact that Caicedo’s goal was not allowed to stand, specially given the quality of the strike he produced.
Even so, this yet another outstanding performance from the midfielder, who covered just about every blade of grass for Chelsea.
He was key in helping to shut down any Tottenham threats, and that was made all the more impressive by the fact he had suffered a knock so early on in the game.
But with that not stopping him, this shows just how important he has become to Chelsea after the pressure of his mammoth £115million fee from Brighton [Sky Sports], and how vital it is that they keep him fit for the rest of the campaign.
