Morelos set to explode after landmark Rangers development – Agbonlahor

Alfredo Morelos will return to his free-scoring best after scoring his 100th goal for Rangers, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer admitted milestones and records play heavily on a striker’s mind.

Morelos was stuck on 99 goals for the Ibrox giants before scoring the winner against St. Mirren last weekend.

It took him 199 appearances across all competitions to reach the milestone.

He added his 101st goal for the club in the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen during the week.

The Colombia international is just the 18th player to score 100 goals for the Gers since the end of the Second World War.

A quarter of those strikes have come in European competitions and he is the club’s record scorer in Europe.

“When you’re close to a record, it’s on your own mind,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I remember when I was one away from being Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer, it was on my mind. When I scored it, I was buzzing to get it over the line.

“He will probably have been the same. Now he’s got it, he can get it off his mind and start scoring more freely.”

Before scoring his 100th goal, Morelos had scored just five times in 16 games across all competitions this season.

He has now found the net seven times in 18 games and will be hoping to add to that tally against Motherwell at Fir Park this weekend.

In other news, a ‘massive’ Rangers figure could quit Ibrox amid a BBC update.
