Morgan Rogers sends one-word message to Aston Villa teammate Jhon Duran

Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers was full of praise for teammate Jhon Duran after the striker stole the show in their 3-2 Champions League win over RB Leipzig on Tuesday (December 10).

Duran, 20, scored a stunning long-range effort just minutes after replacement Ollie Watkins at half-time to make it 2-1 and restore Aston Villa’s lead.

The wonderkid thought he’d bagged a brace shortly after, but VAR had other ideas, judging Matty Cash to be offside in the build-up and ruled the goal out.

Christoph Baumgartner equalised for RB Leipzig after Duran’s disallowed goal, but Ross Barkley snatched an 85th-minute winner to secure all three points for the visitors.

Duran is yet to secure a regular starting spot despite his remarkable form, having started just four of his 23 games across all competitions. Scoring ten goals and providing zero assists in 790 minutes of action.

Unlike Duran, Rogers, 22, is an undisputed key player for Emery, starting all 21 of his appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing three assists in 1742 minutes of action.

The England international is clearly impressed with Duran, however, taking to Instagram after the win over RB Leipzig to send him a message, simply saying: “Again.”

Villa’s win over RB Leipzig puts them within touching distance of qualification from the new Champions League group phase, sitting in third with 13 points from their opening six games.

Emery’s attention will return to the Premier League on Saturday (December 14) as they travel to high-flying Nottingham Forest.
