Jamie Redknapp wowed by ‘exceptional’ Aston Villa player who’s angered fans
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers is starting to find form after suffering from a poor start to the season.
Rogers’ early season performances were criticised as Aston Villa suffered from a slow start to the campaign.
During the summer transfer window, Rogers was linked with a move to Chelsea as Aston Villa placed a £100million valuation on him.
The 23-year-old was suffering a goal drought before netting his goal of the season during England’s 3-0 win over Wales during the international break.

Morgan Rogers stuns Andy Hinchcliffe
Rogers opened his Premier League goal scoring account for the season at Spurs, as the midfielder struck a long-range strike into the roof of the net past the despairing dive of Guglielmo Vicario.
Speaking on Sky Sports, [19 October], Andy Hinchcliffe was stunned by Rogers’ strike.
“He can turn a game in a split second, the way he manipulates that ball out of his feet to take it away from Simons is outstanding and then the strike is simply stunning,” Hinchcliffe said.
“There’s pace on it and there’s dip. No chance for the goalkeeper.
“You’ve got to close down a player as good as this, a player which is in form as well. You got to get closer than that, you give him a sight of your goal and you’re going to get punished.”
Rogers just needed ‘patience’ to hit form
Speaking on Sky Sports [19 October] before the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Jamie Redknapp had faith that Rogers would recapture his best form.
“He’s taken a little bit of stick from his own fans this season, I think he’s class,” Redknapp said.
Morgan Rogers | Stats |
Appearances | 80 |
Goals | 17 |
Assists | 19 |
“I watched him a couple of time for England and he was exceptional in those games. He’s a super talent.
“He needs a little bit of form again and that will come. He’ll get his goals. He got an assist for [Donyell] Malen in the last game against Burnley so there’s no doubt he’s a class player.
“He needs little bit of time and a bit of patience.”
