Morgan Sanson tipped to lead Aston Villa mass exodus after source's £10m reveal - Agbonlahor

Morgan Sanson could be one of a number of Aston Villa players Steven Gerrard is prepared to sell this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Sanson will be desperate to leave and play regular football.

A French source told Football Insider this week (26 April) that Marseille are are interested in re-signing the 27-year-old.

He has not been able to nail down a regular place for Villa since moving for a reported £15.5million from the Ligue 1 side in January 2021.

Gerrard will not stand in Sanson’s way this summer if he decides to leave and are willing to accept offers of £10million.

“You have to look at it, for him himself he will want to move on and play regularly,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“If Steven Gerrard’s got a transfer window to bring in more players and you’ve not been playing before the transfer window what chance have you got playing next season?

“He is one of the players that Steven Gerrard will probably move on.

“Sanson himself will want to move on and play football. He played a lot at Marseille so he will want to go somewhere where he’s playing regular and not where he is getting rare appearances, that’s not what a player wants.”

Sanson has played just 20 times across all competitions for Aston Villa, including just six Premier League starts.

The former France Under-21 international is under contract until the summer of 2025.
