Mourinho must be ‘fuming’ with Tottenham after source’s ‘huge’ Traore update – pundit
Frank McAvennie has questioned where Tottenham are finding fresh transfer funds as they look to continue their spending.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest Spurs transfer news.
Football Insider has been told by a Spurs source that Wolves have rejected a loan-to-buy bid for Adama Traore, while Liverpool are also keen to sign him and have made contact over a potential deal.
On 23 August, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed the winger is a “priority” for Tottenham in the final days of the window.
With Harry Kane now staying at the club, McAvennie has questioned where the money is coming from.
“It makes sense to get Traore, it would be huge,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m just wondering where the money is coming from. Jose Mourinho never got this money.
“You would think they are spending the Kane money but he’s staying now.
“They haven’t really sold anyone either. There’s meant to be a few players coming in now.
“It’s great for the fans that they are going out and signing players, especially as they are playing so well.
“Mourinho must be looking now, he’ll be fuming, ‘why didn’t I get this’?
“It is strange now Kane’s staying but it wouldn’t surprise me if Traore did come in.”

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo worked with Traore at Wolves.
He made 37 appearances and scored two goals in the Premier League last season.
