Moussa Dembele posts Twitter verdict on Celtic win v Linfield
By Matt Bullin
Celtic ace Moussa Dembele has hailed his side’s performance as they beat Linfield 4-0 to advance into the Champions League third qualifying round.
Despite the fact the 21-year-old striker failed to find the net, he put in a good showing and had multiple efforts well saved by the Linfield shot-stopper.
However, the Hoops still ran out easy winners as Scott Sinclair bagged a brace and Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong both netted on a balmy Wednesday night at Celtic Park.
The 4-0 victory handed the Bhoys a 6-0 aggregate win, which sets up a tie with Rosenborg of Norway.
Dembele was quick to compliment the fans in a message on his personal Twitter account after the match.
He said: “A great victory tonight. Serious team performance and wonderful support from the fans. Focus on the next game now.”
The 21-year-old was one of the Hoops top performers last term, scoring 32 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions, as well as providing nine assists.
The Frenchman’s efforts helped Celtic clinch a historic treble last term as they won the Scottish Premiership title, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.
Bhoys manager Brendan Rodgers will be keen to hold onto Dembele in order to help the side defend their titles, as he has been linked with a move away from Parkhead this summer.
However, Rodgers has strengthened areas of his squad by signing experienced winger Jonny Hayes, young midfielder Kendai Benyu and playmaker Olivier Ntcham.
Dembele has been capped by France Under-21s on six occasions, and he has netted an impressive four goals for the side.
