£3m 2017 signing shows why he is not a mainstay of the Celtic side

COMMENT
Eboue Kouassi has been on the fringes of the Celtic side since joining the club last January, and his performance against Kilmarnock doesn’t seem likely to change that.
In a way, it was understandable why Brendan Rodgers picked the 20-year-old for a rare second start in a row, as he had played very well against Hearts in midweek.
However, he was undisguised against Kilmarnock, as a booking he received in the first-half seemed to affect his performance, and found it difficult to cope with the brilliant Youssouf Mulumbu, who was the man of the match.
It seems likely that the Ivorian will return to the bench for the upcoming Scottish Cup clash against Partick next Saturday.
That is acceptable for such a young player, they can’t be consistent all the time, unless you are somebody like Kieran Tierney.
But presumably Rodgers would have expected a bit more of a player who cost £3million in 2017 in his first season with the club, instead he’s been a bit-part player.
Perhaps it would have been a good idea to send him out on loan, ironically to somewhere like Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock, but it’s too late for that night.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Kouassi went on loan for the start of next season, but for the rest of this season he will have to fight for game time.
