Multiple Aston Villa stars tipped to quit after source’s £150m transfer reveal – pundit
Alex McLeish has suggested some Aston Villa stars may push to leave this summer ahead of a signing spree.
The former Villa boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed players would not want to stay if they are set to tumble down the pecking order.
An Aston Villa source told Football Insider (1 April) owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens ready to fund a “huge” overhaul of the squad and will likely smash the club’s transfer record again.

The Midlands giants are expected to spend over £150million on new signings.
As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (7 April), Villa have already initiated contact with Brighton’s Yves Bissouma over a potential move.
McLeish suggested an influx of new arrivals could lead to current Villans stars looking to leave.
Asked if he expected a turnover of players at Villa, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah, for two reasons.
“One is the money reason, to try and balance some accounts, that kind of thing. But also, if these players are beginning to be out of the squad or not playing enough, they have to get their own personal careers together.
“There has to be more than just the reason for money and balancing books. The players themselves will want to play regular football.
“These are the best years of their lives. They’re the only years in their lives they can play the game at the top level.

“They don’t want to waste any time sitting on benches or sitting in the stand, when they’re young and energetic. They have the intelligence and this is the time to do it, guys.
“You don’t hang about there. There will be that balancing of the books but also a shift of dynamics in terms of the team.”
