Murillo and Omari Hutchinson react to Ola Aina announcement at Nottingham Forest
Ola Aina has attracted the attention of his Nottingham Forest teammates by reaching a new Premier League milestone this season.
The 29-year-old is a much-loved figure at the City Ground, and with 100 Premier League appearances under his belt, he is one of the most experienced members of the current squad.
Sadly, Aina has missed several games through injury, stopping him from reaching the milestone much quicker, and joining Neco Williams, who recently achieved the same feat with the Reds.
Despite the individual successes, Forest are currently struggling to stay afloat in the Premier League relegation battle, swapping Sean Dyche for Vitor Pereira for the final 12 games of the campaign.
Before they can think about the league, however, a Europa League clash with Fenerbahce awaits.
Ola Aina reaches 100 Premier League appearances
There have been rumours surrounding Aina’s future at the City Ground, but instead, the club have chosen to celebrate the full-back for his accomplishments in England.
Taking to Instagram (17 February), the official club account wrote: “Ola Aina, Premier League centurion,” with a 100 emoji, alongside an image of the cheerful Forest defender.
As well as liking the announcement himself, two of his teammates, Omari Hutchinson and Murillo, both liked the post, showing appreciation for the Nigerian international.
Since joining Forest, he has made 71 appearances, 67 of which have been Premier League games, with his others coming with Fulham and Chelsea, albeit three of them coming in the 2026-17 season.
What is Aina’s contract situation at the City Ground?
Before the summer, supporters were concerned about how much longer Aina had at the City Ground, but he has since penned a new three-year deal.
He is likely to remain in the East Midlands until the summer of 2028, extending his stay to five seasons with the Tricky Trees, becoming one of the most-loved fan favourites at the club.
Aina continues to be linked with moves elsewhere, especially within the Premier League, due to his talents at full-back, but Forest are in no mood to let him leave anytime soon.
Of course, losing him to injury was a huge blow for the club, but since he returned to the pitch, he has been nothing short of professional and could offer a big boost in the relegation battle.
