Murillo responds to exciting transfer announcement at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest’s latest announcement caught the attention of star defender Murillo ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Reds are without dangerous winger Anthony Elanga following his move to Newcastle United, though the biggest news has been Morgan Gibbs-White signing new terms at the City Ground.

Tottenham had been working hard for Gibbs-White’s signature, but after an “illegal” move over the player’s release clause, Evangelos Marinakis persuaded the England international to stay another season.

Switching places with Crystal Palace in the Europa League has certainly handed the club more hope of signing bigger stars this summer, but there is still a lot of controversy that remains.

Football Insider understood earlier this month that Nottingham Forest were leading the race to sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, and multiple weeks of the transfer window remain until the new season kicks off.

Nottingham Forest announce Dan Ndoye deal

Nuno Espirito Santo ready for European challenge

Football Insider verdict

With the Reds back in European competition for the first time in 30 years, supporters are excited for the season ahead, but if they are to succeed, reinforcements are desperately needed.

Matz Sels and Gibbs-White have both signed new deals, as have Welshman Neco Williams and Ola Aina, but these contract extensions will only get the team so far in Europe next term.

With Jota Silva heavily linked with an exit, a couple of new wingers could be vital for how Forest play, and another star striker would not go amiss, with Chris Wood ageing and Igor Jesus adapting.

Football Insider understands that Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss is of interest to Nottingham Forest, with James McAtee and Southampton’s Matheus Fernandes also being linked in recent weeks.

The Reds certainly dropped off towards the end of the 2024/25 season, missing out on Champions League football on the final day of the campaign to Chelsea.

If Espirito Santo wants to avoid similar heartbreak next term, he will need to force the board’s hand when it comes to investing heavily in the summer transfer market over the coming weeks.
