Murty reveals Rangers change he might reverse already

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has revealed he could go back to wearing a tracksuit on the touchline after wearing a suit in the 2-1 defeat by Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Murty had previously insisted he wouldn’t wear a suit unless he was appointed as full-time manager and, after being handed the role until the end of the season, was in shirt and tie at Rugby Park as the Gers fell to Kris Boyd’s late double.

The 43-year-old has now revealed he will “revisit” his choice although admitted there were far greater priorities facing him at Ibrox than his wardrobe decisions.

“It was a conscious decision. I said I would never wear it unless I was actually made the manager,” Murty said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“Now I’ve been made manager, and it is just a personal thing. I said I would do it.

“But I will revisit it and see how it made me feel, how I felt inside.

“At the moment, I’m far, far busier thinking about other things than my sartorial elegance.”

Rangers fans have long expected managers to be in shirt and tie at pitchside on matchday given the role they are fulfilling and the high standards expected – although there’s nothing that suggests it has any bearing on results whatsoever.

The Gers welcome Motherwell to Ibrox on Wednesday night in the Scottish Premiership as they look to close the 14-point gap to leaders Celtic before facing them on Saturday.

Murty’s side travel across Glasgow on Saturday for the second Old Firm clash of the season in the final roud of fixtures before the winter break.

Rangers will head to Florida during the three-week shutdown for warm weather training and participate in the Florida Cup.

In other Rangers news, three Gers players could play their final games for the club against Celtic this week.
