Murty makes frank admission about Rangers chairman Dave King

By Richard Parks
Graeme Murty has insisted that he has an excellent working relationship with Rangers chairman Dave King following Saturday’s defeat to Hibernian.
Critics of the manager erupted in fury after the Light Blues failed to take advantage of Celtic’s slip-up earlier in the day as they blew the chance to turn a one-horse race for the Scottish Premiership title into something more competitive.
Murty insists that progress is being under his command and also explained that he is in regular contact with Rangers’ South-Africa-based chairman Dave King.
Speaking at his media conference on Monday, Murty said, as quoted by the official Rangers Twitter account, that he has a “really good relationship” with King and “good lines of communication”.

The manager, who has got the job until the end of the season, also said that the Glasgow giants have made progress and are “closer to where we want to be”.

A win over Hibs, followed by another at Firhill tomorrow night against Partick Thistle, would have cut the deficit to eight points and with two Old Firm encounters still to come this season, there was an outside chance of a race for the title rather than just a Celtic procession.
But the 2-1 defeat that followed, blew that hope to bits in what was a grievous blow to Rangers’ very slim hopes of making things difficult for the Hoops.
Third-placed Rangers brought in six new players during the January window but are 14 points behind Celtic ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Partick, although they do have one match in hand.
In other Rangers news, it can be revealed that a key first teamer has sensationally asked to leave after the board failed to stick to their promise of giving him a new deal during the transfer window.
