Myles Lewis-Skelly responds to Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal transfer update
Myles Lewis-Skelly reacted to some of the latest news surrounding Viktor Gyokeres’ impending move to Arsenal this summer.
The Swedish superstar has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the last few months, having impressed so much during his time with Sporting CP in recent seasons.
Boasting 97 goals and 26 assists in 102 appearances for the Portuguese giants, he is seen as the perfect centre-forward for Mikel Arteta‘s side, especially after such disappointment last season.
Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi have both arrived in North London, with Brentford’s Christian Norgaard expected to join next, and Football Insider understands that Arsenal are in full agreement with Gyokeres.
The manager faced a lot of criticism after not being able to secure the signing of an out-and-out striker, but with Andrea Berta now part of the staff, the club’s transfer window is just getting started.

Arsenal close in on Viktor Gyokeres transfer
Taking to Instagram (6 July), Fabrizio Romano wrote: “BREAKING: Viktor Gyokeres’ deal at Arsenal will be valid until June 2030, five years. The Swedish striker has accepted the contract proposal as he only wants Arsenal.
“Sporting CP have been informed. Negotiations between clubs are underway to agree a deal,” with Lewis-Skelly liking the journalist’s announcement on social media.
Mikel Arteta set to add final piece of the puzzle
Football Insider verdict
Arteta remains under pressure as Arsenal manager, with supporters frustrated by the lack of silverware since his appointment, but signing Gyokeres would be a huge boost for the Gunners.
The North London side have come considerably close to breaking the deadlock in the Premier League and Champions League, but it is now five years since the Gunners lifted the FA Cup title.
He likely has one final season left to prove himself, and if the Spaniard is unable to finally lift a piece of major silverware, it could be lights out for Arteta next summer.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey are no longer at the club, with Kieran Tierney departing on a free transfer to Celtic, and there are likely more exits to come.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal are also holding discussions over whether to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, though several Premier League clubs are eyeing the England international.
Bringing these big-name players to the Emirates Stadium should give the Gunners a huge boost ahead of next season, but with Man City and Liverpool both making additions, it will be a tough battle again.
