Nathan Ake and Eddie Nketiah react to Gabriel Jesus’ injury update at Arsenal

Gabriel Jesus has gained traction on social media after sharing an update on his return from injury at Arsenal.

The Brazilian has been sidelined since January, sustaining a ligament injury during the FA Cup clash with Man United, joining Kai Havertz in the Arsenal treatment room.

Those two long-term injuries have left Mikel Arteta without a recognised striker, now deploying Mikel Merino instead of trusting Raheem Sterling with the striker pressure at Arsenal.

Arteta’s team has been plagued by injuries this season, with Bukayo Saka still on the sidelines, and Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu also spending time out, but fans are tired of that excuse for failing to lift the Premier League trophy this season.

Taking to Instagram [12 March], Jesus shared a video of his injury journey so far, going from time spent with his family to enduring pain on his way back to full fitness.

He captioned the video: “The first seven weeks of recovery are done. Working hard and improving every day, thanks to God. Step by step!”

Teammates Saka and Thomas Partey liked the post, as did Crystal Palace’s Eddie Nketiah and Man City’s Nathan Ake, who is also recovering from a serious injury this season.

The striker also received reaction from Wolves star Joao Gomes and former Liverpool star Roberto Firmino, with plenty massively sympathetic towards the player and his recovery.

The Gunners still have a very long way to go before competing for the Premier League title, still being separated from Liverpool by 15 points with 10 matches still to play.

Arsenal attempted to bring Ollie Watkins to the Emirates with just days of the winter window left, a bid which was swiftly rejected by Unai Emery and his team, but he is exactly the type of player he needs.

Luckily, Arteta could soon be working with former Atletico Madrid chief Andrea Berta at Arsenal, who helped the La Liga giants recruit Antoine Griezmann, Jan Oblak and David Villa.

Those big names will certainly bring excitement to North London, and with the summer transfer window already on the horizon, the Gunners need to get to work as soon as possible.
