Nathan Ake: Newcastle United ‘raging’ after Man City update – pundit
Alan Hutton has insisted Nathan Ake is not worth the £50million Man City are reportedly demanding amid interest from Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland international claimed other centre-backs would be “raging” at the prospect of the 27-year-old commanding such a big-money fee.
As reported by the Sun (5 June), Man City have told Newcastle Ake will cost £50million after the Magpies launched an enquiry for his capture.

The defender’s contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until the summer of 2025.
Hutton insisted Ake is an “excellent player” but baulked at the eight-figure demands on his head.
“Look, he’s a great player. He did well at Bournemouth and got his move, which was brilliant for him, but I’m not paying £50million for him.
“There are centre-halves out there that would be raging at the thought of Nathan Ake moving for £50million.
“I still believe he’s an excellent player. I don’t mean anything by it. If Newcastle are willing to pay that price, that’s totally up to them. I think that’s over and above what would be needed, in my opinion.
“Of course, he’s a very good Premier League player. Is he £50million worth? Not in my opinion.
“Eddie Howe obviously wants him in but £50million is a lot of money.”
Ake made 27 appearances for City during the 2021/22 season.

However, just 10 of those came as starts in the Premier League.
He has played 40 times for Man City since joining from Bournemouth in 2020.
