Nathan Patterson cited as Rangers backed to green light wonderkid’s exit – expert
Frank McAvennie has backed Rangers to sell Leon King for a “big offer”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said King will become a “better player” if he moves to England.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (11 October), many clubs are monitoring the 18-year-old following his start against Liverpool at Anfield (4 October).
Man United, Newcastle and Leeds are said to have already sent scouts to follow the centre-back.
On 5 January the defender signed a new contract with the Ibrox club which runs out in 2024.
He has made 11 appearances for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side so far this season.
When asked if King could be tempted by a move to the Premier League, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Of course he will and Rangers will sell him if the offer comes in.
“There are no two ways about it. The same as [Nathan] Patterson. He went to Everton and he is in the squad now. It took him a while but he is a good player.
“King is a good player but he got shown up in Europe. If he goes to England he will learn.

“One thing I noticed was that every day you are playing with better players, no disrespect to Rangers, but you are training with different players. You become a better player.
“So I think he could be tempted but it would have to be a big offer for Rangers to sell him because they need him.“
