Nathan Patterson to Rangers? O’Rourke shares update on sensational Ibrox return
Rangers are unlikely to pursue a deal to sign Everton right-back Nathan Patterson this month despite links with a sensational return to Ibrox.
Patterson left Rangers to join Everton in 2022, but has made just 63 appearances in that time, including only five under David Moyes this season.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Patterson could be allowed to leave Everton this month, the Toffees would like to bring in a new right-back, but Rangers is highly unlikely to be his destination.
The 24-year-old has 18 months remaining on his contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and could soon be allowed to leave should the right offer arrive.
However, the addition of a new right-back is not one of Rohl‘s priorities this month, with the recruitment team focused on more pressing positions as things stand.

Rangers transfer plan revealed after Nathan Patterson latest
Football Insider revealed in October that Rangers want a new striker and left-back, as well as potentially a new midfielder in the January transfer window.
Tuur Rommens arrived at Ibrox as their left-back addition, and the focus has now turned to other areas of the squad, with wingers seemingly next on their list.
However, given their current options at right-back, any suggestions that Patterson could be in line for a return have been squashed.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I would be surprised if he was to move back to Rangers. Rangers have quite well stocked at right back.
“They’ve got James Tavernier, the captain, they’ve got Dujon Sterling and Max Aarons as well. They’re quite well-covered in the right-back area.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Patterson ends up leaving Everton.

“He has 18 months left on his contract and we know Everton are in the market for a new right-back.
“I’m sure will be keen to be playing regularly in the second half of season to boost his chances of making Scotland’s World Cup squad for the summer.”
Oliver Antman could quit Rangers after new signing arrives
Football Insider revealed on 16 January that Oliver Antman could leave Rangers after they complete the signing of Andrea Skov Olsen.
Rohl all but confirmed the arrival of the 26-year-old from Wolfsburg, with Rangers expected to make the official confirmation in the coming days if not hours.
The winger’s expected arrival and any further additions will force Antman down the pecking order.

The 24-year-old has struggled to impress since arriving at Ibrox in August and has played just three league games under Rohl after suffering an adductor injury.
However, the Rangers boss is reluctant to weaken his side and hopes Antman will return to top form in the second half of the season.
