Paul Robinson claims Tottenham may have just signed the ideal replacement for Tanguy Ndombele with the capture of Pape Sarr.

The former Spurs stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the club confirmed another summer signing.

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Sarr on 27 August though he will remain on loan at Metz for this season.

According to Sky Sports (21st August), Bayern are willing to offer Corentin Tolisso plus £17.2million for the wantaway midfielder.

Ndombele has four years remaining on his contract in north London and has not played a minute of football this season.

Whether Ndombele stays at Spurs for the foreseeable, Robinson claims Sarr could be the perfect replacement.

"He's played 20 odd times for Metz already," Robinson told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

"He will be challenging for a first-team place at Tottenham. This isn't someone who's coming in to be part of the Under 23s.

"He looks like the finished article and he's only going to get better.

"If you look at him and the way he plays, he looks like an improved version of Ndombele.

"It's has become apparent he will be leaving the club soon, and most likely by tomorrow.

"For the price Sarr cost, he looks a better player."

In May, PSG centre midfielder Gueye told Get French Football News that he is a huge fan of Sarr and admitted he is the “future of Senegal”.

Despite his age, Sarr already had two Senegal caps to his name.
