‘Negotiations are underway’ – Claudio Echeverri’s next club revealed as Man City loanee to be recalled

Claudio Echeverri may already have his next club lined up once Man City recall the Argentine from his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen.

Man City loaned Echeverri out to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window, but the 19-year-old has appeared just five times for the Bundesliga club.

Echeverri is likely to return to Man City in January amid his lack of playing time in Germany and need of first-team minutes.

The forward has only appeared once for Man City, but Pep Guardiola has previously called the former River Plate star “incredible.”

Claudio Echeverri could be set for River Plate return

Hugo Balassone as per Argentine newspaper El Intransigente reports that River Plate want to re-sign Echeverri, and are currently leading the race for the teenager.

Balassone also highlights that there is interest from a Premier League side in the Argentine: Two Spanish teams and one Premier League team are interested in Echeverri.

And City hasn’t ruled out bringing him back. But River has taken the initiative and negotiations are underway.

What his agent will seek when he travels to Germany is to terminate his loan at Bayer Leverkusen. The player wants to play. It doesn’t depend on just one situation, but on several. But River has made progress, the negotiation is underway. It also depends on what City wants to do.”

Any move for Anderson would demand a high transfer fee from Nottingham Forest at around £100million, which could put Man City off.

Anderson has enjoyed a breakthrough season with England, and is currently set to start in midfield at the World Cup for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
