Neil Warnock identifies the one thing Leeds have over play-off rivals

By Harvey Byrne

Former Leeds boss Neil Warnock feels as though the Yorkshire giants’ fans will help them in their bid for promotion this season.

The 68-year-old current Cardiff manager assessed each of the four sides in the play-off battle, identifying one thing that they had in difference to the others.

He shared that he felt Reading could be hindered by their passing game and pitch problems, while being complimentary of Sheffield Wednesday’s passion and key player in Fernando Forestieri.

He then went on to explain that Huddersfield’s team ethic under David Wagner could be a major asset to them and that he feels as though the four sides already mentioned will be in the play-offs once the season reaches it’s end.

“They [journalists] asked me yesterday and they are in cuckoo land I think,” told Warnock to Goals on Sunday, as quoted by the Sky Sports website.

“We are 13 points adrift and we have just won three on the trot. We only have to win 13 more in a row.

“The thing is it’s not just Cardiff doing well, we have to go on another run and other teams have to lose.

“Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds and Reading need to have a major slip-up and then Norwich are only seven points adrift so they need to as well. That many things need to happen. We just have to try to win every game.

“I think it will be a good play-off battle. They all have different attributes. Reading have a problem because their pitch is a disgrace and they play passing football so that doesn’t help them.

“Leeds have the fans, and Wednesday have the passion and Fernando Forestieri, who is on fire.

“Huddersfield have a great team ethic. It does look as if it will be those four for me, although I am sure Norwich will have something to say about that.”

Leeds have often received praise for their famous support at Elland Road and maintained high crowds even in League One, while they always travel well.

They have certainly played a part in cheering their side on to some important results and they can intimidate a number of opposition teams with their support.

The Yorkshire giants’ team now has to repay the fans by doing the business on the pitch and finishing in the top six as they look to end their 13-year wait for Premier League football.
