Neil Warnock delivers message to Leeds fans following Cardiff defeat
By Danny Wright
Neil Warnock has praised the Leeds supporters after leading his Cardiff side to victory at Elland Road on Saturday.
The former Leeds boss said that the fans can be very proud of their young, promising side who look as though they could be on for promotion to the Premier League this season.
Goals from Sean Morrison and Kenneth Zohore meant the Bluebirds travelled back to Wales with all three points, but Warnock was very supportive of his former club.
“To be fair the crowd was very good with us. It was super today. I know they’ve gone home disappointed but they haven’t got to forget where they’ve come from,” he said to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“They’ve got a vibrant, young side who had problems they couldn’t solve today but it is an exciting place to be at the minute.
“I’m really pleased for them because the crowd were always waiting for this type of thing to happen and I think it’s finally going to be here.”
With a great deal of young talent in the current Leeds set-up, it’s no wonder Warnock, plus any other manager, would be envious.
Warnock spent 14 months in charge at Elland Road before leaving the club at the back end of the 2012/13 season. He had spells at Crystal Palace and Rotherham before joining Cardiff in October 2016.
Leeds are currently fifth in the Championship with 54 points – four points clear of Norwich who are just outside the play-off places.
An automatic spot may be out of the question this season with Newcastle and Brighton in a league of their own this season. Leeds are 10 points off Brighton who are in second place, and 11 behind league leaders Newcastle.
In other Leeds news, this is what Warnock said to Sol Bamba before Saturday’s match.
