Nemanja Matic: Two more Man United players tipped to quit after exit confirmation – pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard to follow Nemanja Matic out of the Man United exit door this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Matic’s legs have gone but he has been an “amazing” Premier League player.

The 33-year-old confirmed on Friday (15 April) via Instagram that he will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the season.

He has featured in both of United’s subsequent Premier League games including the 4-0 humiliation at Anfield last night where he played the full 90 minutes.

Asked for his verdict on the timing of Matic’s decision, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I don’t mind it, to be fair.

“Everyone knows that he’s going to go, he’s not got the legs anymore.

“He’s been a great player in the Premier League but sometimes your legs let you down. That is what is happening with him. Back at Chelsea, he was amazing.

“You look at Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, there are a lot of players that need to be gone.

“Fred and Scott McTominay should be your second choice midfield pairing, not first.

“There are so many bodies that they have to get in and I’m sure they will start doing that in the summer.”

Man United

Matic, who will be 34 before the start of next season, has played 247 times in the Premier League in his time at United and Chelsea.

The Serbia international has played 28 times across all competitions this season, including 14 starts.
