New midfielder signing to take Celtic ‘to the next level’ amid Sky reveal – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed that Celtic can reach the “next level” with the addition of a holding midfielder this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Rangers right-back insists that the Hoops remain “on the lookout” for new signings.
As quoted by Sky Sports last Friday (8 July), Ange Postecoglou revealed his club are interested in “two or three” more signings before the end of the window.
The Scottish champions have already made five additions to the squad.
The most recent was the confirmation of Jota, 23, on a permanent deal from Benfica.
The winger spent last season on loan with the Glasgow club and recently put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
When asked if multiple signings before the end of the window are likely, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think every manager says he wants two or three signings, just to make the fans happy.
“It’s much like every team, they’re never going to close doors. I wouldn’t say unhappy, but they’re always searching for the next best thing. You’re always on the lookout.
“He’s done really well so far, the transfer window he had at the start of last season was incredible. If he continues on that form I don’t think any Celtic fan will have any need to panic.

“I think if he can get another holding midfielder in. You have got influential players on either side to go and attack, but they need that defensive midfielder who will play week in week out, who’s going to give them a solid base.
“I think if they do get that, the team goes to the next level.“
